Black Swan
Four beautiful versions of the Black Swan poster I came across today. From La Boca. The website is also a great source of inspiration for movie posters.

The Eyepatch
I noticed this ad in the back of ELLE magazine today. Evoked the memory of the famous Ogilvy ad...
Oh the classic eyepatch.
Which actually subtly brings the topic of disability to the forefront. It was one of the first images in mass advertising that portrayed human imperfection and disability in a positive way. Which I love!
Great Analogy
Reddit had an "Ask Me Anything" with Matt, from 'Where in the World is Matt', a video made by a guy who dances all around the world. This was my favorite part of the question series.
A: Definitely!
The thing is, you hear about the noisy stuff.
Ever heard the expression "man bites dog?" I won't explain it here, but it's that. It's sort of a general misunderstanding about the way media works and what it's for.
The media isn't actually designed to give you an accurate picture of what the world is like. It's just telling you when shit is going down. It's exactly like a nervous system. Your body doesn't tell you about the parts that aren't hurting.
What I've found is really going on right now is this: the world is less violent, more open, and more healthy than it's ever been in the history of civilization. Our brains just aren't designed to see things that way.
Controversial opinion, I know. Look up a guy named Steven Pinker

Stanford Graduation
I graduated from Stanford University on Sunday. Here is Cory Booker's speech from the Commencement Address. He was amazing. In his speech he asked that we consider the people that we forget about often, those who clean the buildings, mow the grass, etc, and our families, as they are an integral part of the Stanford community. He shared some very inspirational stories as a send off into our adult lives. Now time to find out if the tassel was worth the hassle...

Inside the Rock Poster Frame - Frank Kozik
From Inside the Rock Poster Frame
" Frank Kozik reinvented the gigposter scene starting in the mid 80's by starting with black and white flyers for friends’ bands posted on telephone poles, his reputation grew as an artist whose work was graphically compelling as well as culturally gripping. By redefining the Pop Art Subculture with his poster work people started to take notice of his work. He started Man's Ruin Records label and help give many small local bands the break they needed including Queens of the Stone Age. In 2001 he stopped all that to work on his fine art and once again helped to create a niche, the Vinyl Art Toy scene. After creating the iconic Labbit figure he continues to blow minds in vinyl toy world with all his creations, he even has one that is special order and life size. He has worked with companies from Nike to Oakley to Barneys to Kidrobot all the while doing things his way or fuck off. Now after 11 years away from doing posters, aside from a few here there, he is back doing posters and prints."

David Kelley, Creative Confidence
David Kelley’s newly posted TED talk on building creative confidence from the 2012 TED Conference in Long Beach, CA. In this talk, Kelley shares stories from his life and design career to inspire others to build their creative confidence. Too often he finds people are opting out of creativity in their childhood and drawing a line between creatives and non-creatives that becomes deeply ingrained by adulthood. Kelley believes his mission is to “help as many people as possible regain the creative confidence they lost along the way.”
Recent Project #2
So once upon a time there was this beautiful little shortcut that took me to the art room without circumambulating every other building on campus. Then they put up some bollards.
NO CARS MAY PASS |
So I did what any artist/protestor would do- I decorated them like army generals.
War has been declared.

My friend JWitt just released his first EP, "Crystal Sunsets". I did the cover art and hand made the CD cases. After much hard work and deliberation, a great result! Listen to/buy his CD here
