im thinking about doing something about bullfighting.... many people find it cruel but I was doing some research on it and it turns out that the bulls live much better lives than most slaugherhouse animals.. there are interesting arguments on both sides
"
I Have lived in Spain for over 25 years now and I can assure you the bulls have the best life ever.
These bulls are born and bread for Bullfighting, They spend their life in large open fields grazing and being looked after extremely well. For a Farmer having his bull be in the ring is an honour so all their bulls are treated as "kings".
By the time the bull has its final fight, it has already become accustomed to the ring as when the bulls are small they are used for training new and unexpired bullfighters, these training sessions also bring crowds with them so the bulls will also not be afraid of the sounds of a large crowd.
I do agree that some things are unfair, such as the fact that the bull gets bled out before the fighter arrives to weaken it.
As Fat Tony stated, once the bull has been killed, it is butchered and sold as the fines beef that you could possibly buy. This again is a huge part of how the Bulls are raised, which ensure as I mentioned before that it will have a wonderful life.
This is a tradition that must be kept alive for the culture of Spain and the world. To many traditions around the world have been removed due to people complaining about how cruel it is to animals... When ironically the animals live better than 99.9% of the animals we consume every day.
"
"I would like to hear from more people who have actually been to see one of these before they pass judgement. A bull fight is actually a very difficult thing to explain. Having attended a bull fight in Northern Spain I was at the same time disgusted and fascinated. I can understand that others are completely against this, but it was actually a very beautiful experience overall."
"What a ridiculous logic! First, Animal in slaughter houses are killed humanely and quickly, their deaths are not stretched out and used as a form of entertainment. I can´t believe you make no differentiation in the way death is occured, "its ok to torture an animal to death, because once they're dead they don't suffer anyways"...
Second, if the quality of life before death is a justification of a tortured death would it be ok to burn dogs and cats to death? After all, they have a great life!..
Third, animals in the wild have no choice in how they kill their prey, we as humans do have a choice in how we treat animals, and are therefore evil by causing unnecessary suffering."
